March 2022 Volume 7 Issue 3
Dear Pastor and praying friends:
We have Great news.
God has turned our world upside down, in our last Ministry update we thought that we were going to Brazil for language school (as this has been the plan for a majority of deputation), since then the door for us to go to Brazil has closed. It became apparent to us after applying for visas and waiting many months for a response from the Brazilian Government with none forthcoming. We began seeking options as to where the Lord would have us go for language training. We investigated going straight to Mozambique, but it has become very difficult to get into the country long term, you need to be invited into the country and have to have a sponsor. At this point we have no one extending an invitation to allow us into the country. We next pursued going to Language school in Portugal, this option did not go anywhere as Portugal is in the process of restructuring their immigration system and we could not find a way to apply for a visa. We finally came down to two options, Cape Verde where we could study Portuguese, or Zambia where we could study Chichewa a local African Language used in the region of Mozambique. We have felt God burden our hearts for a work. After much prayer, seeking counsel, and considering the options that were before us, we are, Lord willing, going to be leaving for Chipata, Zambia the first full week of April.
The location of Chipata will allow me to make trips into Mozambique with the hope that we can make contacts that will eventually be willing to invite us and even sponsor us to go long term into Mozambique. It will make it easier in the future when God grants us long term access into Mozambique to move from Chipata Zambia to Tete Mozambique as they are only approximately 259 miles apart.
Let me stress THIS IS NOT A CHANGE OF FIELD, this is just a step in the direction of Mozambique. Please be in prayer that this move will allow us to gain access to Mozambique.
As we begin getting all our things in order to leave, would you consider what God might have you do to help with our move? We do have some money saved but our expenses are going to be numerous with the cost of Visas, Airfare, a vehicle on the Field, and some additional set up costs.
We are being helped by The Damon Matacchiera Family, they are missionaries in Chipata that we will be able to learn from and serve alongside until God opens the door long term in Mozambique.
Be sure to keep an eye out next month for our family update.
I Thessalonians 5:25 “Brethren, pray for us.”
Prayer Requests:
- For God to open the door to Mozambique through an invitation into the country.
- For our ability to learn quickly when we begin to study Chichewa.
- For us to be a blessing to those that we will work with in Zambia.
- For the People of Mozambique that God would work even now in the hearts and lives of the people to prepare them for the Gospel.
- For God to provide for our every need.
- For our continued good health.
- That our Spiritual lives will remain close to God, for us to grow each day closer to him, and not stray from His will or be caught up in the snares of the Devil.
- For the many Churches that have said they would like to take us on for support, pray God would enable them to have the finances to support us.
- For our raised support that it will continue, and that God will bless our supporting churches.
