Deputation – Volume 4 Issue 4

July 2019 Volume 4 Issue4

Dear Pastor and praying friends:

The Summer is upon us, as I sit here writing this letter it’s almost 90 degrees with +50% humidity, and this is one of the cool days so far. For us the Summer months have slowed to a snail’s pace when it comes to meetings. We started the month of May up north in Canada and then we had two more meeting in Indiana and Pennsylvania. God has given us opportunities to drop by some churches, which have turned into meetings scheduled for later this year. We have also had the privilege of helping at my older brother’s church as we await God to provide more meetings.

God gave us a divine appointment with a young man (19) named Kevin, he was born in Kenya and when he was 4 years old moved to the US. We have been able to spend time with him and witness to him about God. He said he believes that there is a creator but is not sure beyond that. Would you pray with us that he would come to church as he said he would, and as we continue to witness to him that he would receive Christ as his Savior.

Big News: Back in April we met the Stahlman family at a Missions Conference down in Texas, they have a unique ministry (Beyond Boarders) training Missionaries to be better equipped to stay on the field. God gave us the privilege to attend one of the training Camps that they put on during the month of June. It was very intensive training involving, Survival, Security, and Medical training. We were at camp for 8 days and during that time had to learn how to build a shelter, start a fire from, scratch, boil water for drinking, use tourniquets, how to carry someone who is unable to move and so many more things. It was an invaluable learning experience and we are so thankful to have had this opportunity.

We had a splendid time in the 11 churches we visited in March – April. We made new friends and prayer partners, enjoyed their generosity, hospitality, support, and friendship, they greatly blessed us. Bible Baptist Church (Barre VT), Mid-Valley Baptist Church (Corvallis OR), all have agreed to partner with us in reaching Mozambique, and Pleasantville Baptist Church (New Castle DE) voted to increase the amount of our monthly support. We now have 83% in support commitments. I praise God for the safety He has provided as we have traveled over 7,000 miles since our last prayer letter.

Family Updates by Lorin

Deacon (4) Deacon really enjoyed the missions camp we went to. He enjoyed trying the chicken feet which he didn’t like, and playing in a medical scenario where he was carried in a litter. We were able to have my mom come and watch the kids during this time and he really enjoyed having his gramma with him. He colored pictures and went swimming with her. He also had his first sleep over at his cousin’s house all by himself with Gramma and his 3 cousins.

Eden (3): Eden is 3 now, it is amazing how big she is getting. We are so blessed to be able to watch her grow and see her personality develop. We have been staying with Tayler’s brother who has 2 little girls around Eden’s age, and she has been having fun playing with them and learning how to share. She also really enjoyed the camp and her Gramma. The camp had a bounce house for the children and she really enjoyed jumping in it.

Enoch (5m): Enoch is getting bigger. Growing healthy and strong. He has a new thing he likes to do. If you say cheese with a cheesy face, he does the cheesy face back. We think he is going to have the goofiest personality of all our family members. He absolutely loves his Gramma and will giggle and play with her. He is starting to enjoy tummy time and starting to roll.

I Thessalonians 5:25 “Brethren, pray for us.” Prayer Requests:

  • We need one of these, either 12 churches to take us on for $100, 26 churches at $50, or 6 churches at $100 + 12 churches at $50 or some combination that will get us to 100%
  • Safety as we continue traveling
  • For the many Churches that have said, they would like to take us on for

support, pray God would enable them to have the finances to support us.

  • We will be able to schedule meetings and fill our calendar.
  • We will raise the support needed to go to the field, and that we can leave by

End of Fall time of this year.

  • For the People of Mozambique that God would work even now in the hearts

and lives of the people to prepare them for the Gospel.

  • For our ability to learn quickly as we begin to study Portuguese and as we

continue a course in Biblical Studies to complete our required classes.

  • For our continued good health, so that there will be no setbacks on the

    Deputation Trail.

  • That our Spiritual lives will remain close to God, for us to grow each day closer

to him, and not stray from His will or be caught up in the snares of the Devil.
