Deputation – Volume 4 Issue 5

September 2019 Volume 4 Issue5

Dear Pastor and praying friends:   Even though it was slow for us during the summer as far as meetings, we were busy with other things. We had the privilege of being able to help and teach in the Vacation Bible School at my older brother’s church. We also kept busy working on the schooling that is required for us to be able to leave for language school, which hope to do, Lord willing, this next January.

You may remember from our last prayer letter the prayer request that we sent regarding the young man named Kevin. I met with him and we talked for about 3 hours.  I was able to give him a clear presentation of the gospel. He had many questions due to the fact that he grew up catholic. When our meeting ended, he had not made a profession of faith but wanted to meet with me again when we are back in his area. Would you pray with us that he would receive Christ as his Savior?

As you may remember, we lost our Thumb drive which has over 3 years’ worth of work, family photos, and sermons on it. The lost USB Thumb drive is still lost. We believe that with God all things are possible and that if it is His will, He will bring it back to us no matter its current location. Would you continue to pray with us for it to be found?

Big News: We are now residents of the State of Tennessee! After jumping through hoops and going from building to building for several days we finally got everything done that was needed and got our Drivers licenses and other official documents. You are probably wondering why did you transfer your residency? This was done to help make handling all our paperwork easier when we get ready to head to the Field.

We had a splendid time in the 7 churches we visited July through August. We made new friends and prayer partners, enjoyed their generosity, hospitality, support, and friendship. Each church greatly blessed us.  We are still currently at 83% and praying that God will raise our support to 100% by years end.

I praise God for the safety He has provided as we have traveled over 5,000 miles since our last prayer letter.

Family Updates by Lorin

Deacon (4): We have started homeschooling with Deacon. He is learning his numbers, letters, and shapes. It has been somewhat difficult doing school while traveling, but when we are able, he really enjoys it. He has been getting his P.E. in by riding his bike, which he is getting really good at. For one day of school, we worked in the flower beds of one of our supporting churches. We learned the difference between weeds and flowers, raked the wood chips and even found a massive spider egg. He is also very excited about his Birthday coming up at the end of the month.

Eden (3): Eden has also started school. She had been asking since Deacon started and has grown to love it. She begs every day to do school, even on Sundays. I pray she has the same enthusiasm when she gets more advanced in her grades. For P.E. Eden chases Deacon around on his bike. She is developing her homemaking skills and is getting good at folding clothes. She is my big helper in the laundry department.

Enoch (7m): Big news for Enoch!! He has his first tooth! It came in this morning. We didn’t know he was getting teeth and then I felt one. He has also learned how to clap, sit up and hold his balance well. He is really enjoying his new skills. Car seat life is getting interesting, he isn’t wanting to be strapped in. He prefers sitting and playing on his own, and boy is he making his voice heard.

I Thessalonians 5:25 “Brethren, pray for us.”

Prayer Requests:

  • We need one of these, either 12 churches to take us on for $100, 26 churches at $50, or 6 churches at $100 + 12 churches at $50 or some combination that will get us to 100%
  • Safety as we continue traveling
  • For the many Churches that have said, they would like to take us on for support, pray God would enable them to have the finances to support us.
  • For our current supporting churches as some are having financial struggles.
  • We will raise the support needed to go to the field, and that we can be done with deputation by the end of this year.
  • For the People of Mozambique that God would work even now in the hearts and lives of the people to prepare them for the Gospel.
  • For our ability to learn quickly as we begin to study Portuguese and as we continue a course in Biblical Studies to complete our required classes.
  • For our continued good health, so that there will be no setbacks on the Deputation Trail.
  • That our Spiritual lives will remain close to God, for us to grow each day closer to him, and not stray from His will or be caught up in the snares of the Devil.
