Deputation – Volume 4 Issue 3

May 2019 Volume 4 Issue3.

Dear Pastor and praying friends:

Getting back on the deputation road sure has been a whirlwind; we have had meetings in seven states from Texas to Vermont and Tennessee to Wisconsin.  God has given us great opportunities to serve Him. During our first Missions Conference, I had the privilege to be a witness to the man who worked the night shift at the hotel where we were staying.  Every night I would talk with him for about 10 minutes.  God opened the door when I gave him a Gospel tract and talked with him about God.

I pray God will work through the tract and conversations and that salvation will come to him and his house, he is a single father to a 2-year-old little boy.  Our family experienced sickness this spring, at least one member in our family was sick for almost 4 weeks.  It seemed the devil was fighting but God was blessing, and during this time, we had six churches in a row vote to take us on for support.  Most of the time, due to sickness, I was solo and was missing the best part of me, my family.

Big News: We have been asking prayer for our Travel Trailer that the repairs we made last summer would hold.  Well God has given us a newer, damage free, Travel Trailer to use for the rest of our Deputation.  We no longer have to worry about whether the trailer will fall apart.  God is so good to us!  We had a splendid time in the 11 churches we visited in March – April.  We made new friends and prayer partners, enjoyed their generosity, giving, support, and friendship, they greatly blessed us.  Philadelphia Baptist Church (Rutledge, GA), Emmanuel Baptist Church (Bay St. Louis, MS), Bible Baptist Church (Kingsport, TN), Faith Baptist Church (Oak Creek, WI), Bethel Baptist Church (Linton, IN), Berean Baptist Church (Beloit, WI), Trinity Baptist Church (Big Spring, TX), and Victory Baptist Church (Del Rio, TX) all have agreed to partner with us in reaching Mozambique.  We now have 78% in support commitments.  I praise God for the safety He provided as we have traveled over 4,000 miles since our last prayer letter.

NEW Section in our Prayer Letters

Family Updates by Lorin

Deacon (4): Deacon found a Chick Tract in a church we scheduled, and he has been looking at it with many questions.  He asked me to read it; I shared the gospel with him, on a one on one basis.  Pray that his eyes will be open and that he will understand fully that he needs the Saviour.  He is going to be five later this year so he is getting to the point of curiosity, why we go to church, pray, and travel from church to church.  He has grown a love for Sunday school classes.

Eden (2): Eden loves listening to Patch the Pirate.  Giant Killer (David and Goliath) is her favorite right now.  She will be three the 18th of May.  Eden loves being a big sister and tries to help me all the time with little Enoch.  She is very much of a girlie girl and loves pink, jewelry, and girlie things.  She wants her bows and shoes to match her dresses.

Enoch (3m): I cannot believe my baby is already 3 months.  He is starting to develop his own personality, laughs, and smiles.  He loves the attention from the different churches.  He has grown so big he already weighs 12 pounds.  His favorite things to do are sleep, eat, and play with his brother and sister.

I Thessalonians 5:25 “Brethren, pray for us.”

Prayer Requests:

  • We need one of these, either 14 churches to take us on for $100, 28 churches at $50, or 7 churches at $100 + 14 churches at $50 or some combination that will get us to 100%
  • Safety as we continue traveling
  • For the many Churches that have said, they would like to take us on for support, pray God would enable them to have the finances to support us.
  • We will be able to schedule meetings and fill our calendar.
  • We will raise the support needed to go to the field, and that we can leave by Summer time of this year.
  • For the People of Mozambique that God would work even now in the hearts and lives of the people to prepare them for the Gospel.
  • For our ability to learn quickly as we begin to study Portuguese and as we continue a course in Biblical Studies to complete our required classes.
  • For our continued good health, so that there will be no setbacks on the Deputation Trail.
  • That our Spiritual lives will remain close to God, for us to grow each day closer to him, and not stray from His will or be caught up in the snares of the Devil.
